Life Update: 5 months in Georgia
Hello friends! I’m going to do something a little different this week….I thought it would be nice to give you a more personal life update. The world is a crazy, topsy turvy place where time seems to being standing still but moving ahead at full steam at the same time. And we are definitely feeling the effects as well. Georgia We have been in Georgia for 5 months now so a little life update seemed in order. We moved at the end of November 2019, just after Thanksgiving, and Brian started his new job immediately on December 2nd, 2019. Brian’s job here is quite different than it was in Illinois.…

Shop Small Businesses
I love shopping, especially, and particularly, online shopping. Loving online shopping is a blessing and a curse right now. The current Covid-19 social distancing and business closure restrictions are affecting everyone differently. Yes, it has impacted the lives of EVERYONE, but not necessarily in the same way. But in reality, everyone is experiencing some level of financial change. I know small businesses and local businesses are especially facing a lot of uncertainty right now. I have tried to be extra mindful recently to use my powers of online shopping to shop small businesses whenever I can. The Internet has really allowed small businesses to flourish and there are so many…

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas: 14 Great Gifts Moms Will Love
Believe it or not, friends, Mother’s Day is just around the corner! Ok- so it’s not for another month…but still, its gonna sneak up on us (it always catches me off guard). This year I’m trying to be prepared though so I’ve come up with 14 great Mother’s Day gift ideas to get you started! My family is actually pretty good about getting together to celebrate Mother’s Day (I think mainly because it usually coincides very closely with the twins’ birthday and so we get to have two separate celebrations with one gathering of our people). This year, Mother’s Day celebrations may not include large family get-togethers though (but I’m…

Essential Oil Safety 101: what you need to know
*** Disclaimer. This post is in no way intended to give medical advice. Always consult your personal health care provider before starting any new health care routine, supplements, or products. *** Essential oils are concentrated liquid compounds extracted from plants. The essential oils are obtained from different parts of the plant (root, stem, leaf, flower, bulb; depending on the plant and the oil) via steam distillation, cold press, or resin tapping. These concentrated plant liquids are very potent and can provide toxin free, natural support to all our body systems. As with many things in this world, essential oils can potentially be harmful if not respected and if not used…

The Best Board Games for Two Players: Our Favorites
The first time Brian and I played a board game together was on our second date. We had gone on a nature hike around the local lake, continued to chat over frozen yogurt, then went back to his apartment because we weren’t ready for the date to end. We spent the evening talking and laughing, and then Brian suggested we play a board game. I thought we would play Monopoly, or Life, or Clue. But Brian suggested a newer, deck building game called Clank!. I had never played a deck building game, so I was up for the challenge. And my life changed forever (for the better obviously). Clank! was…

*** Disclaimer. This post is in no way intended to give medical advice. Always consult your personal health care provider before starting any new health care routine, supplements, or products. *** Essential oils have gained tremendous popularity over the past few years and even more so in the past few weeks in light of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic. Everywhere you turn, someone is talking about essential oils and why and how you should be using them. But what are essential oils and are they actually that amazing? Let me start by saying, I personally love and use essential oils daily. I think they are fabulous. I do not however, think…

The Truth About Fruits and Vegetables
Hello friends! If you read my How to Make 2020 the Best Year Yet post, then you know one of my goals this year is to really up my fruit and vegetable intake. Some days I’m really killin’ my goal, and others, I’m sad to say, I don’t eat a single fruit or vegetable. It’s something I’m still working on daily. But it’s a goal that is really important to me because I have become much more aware of my body and what it actually needs to function at it’s optimal level. And two things my body NEEDS are, fruits and vegetables! We all know fruits and vegetables are part…

New Orleans- Mardi Gras Travel Review
One of the things Brian and I instantly connected over when we first started dating was our interest in traveling. We were both at a point in our lives where our finances would allow for more travel but we didn’t have a travel “buddy”. Neither of us was super interested in solo travel- it works great for some people, but wasn’t really for either of us. We joked on our first date that maybe we would be each other’s travel buddies and we would get to start checking travel destinations off our lists. Here we are 2 and a half years later, making all the travel plans our time and…

House Update: Painting- What I’ve Learned
I’m so excited to introduce everyone to our new home! Brian and I bought our first house together last November and we’ve been on a home ownership roller coaster ever since! Before the move we discussed renting versus buying immediately. Ultimately we decided with the dogs it would be best to go ahead and buy so we didn’t have to worry about the pups damaging someone else’s property (Loki was pretty destructive at our house in Illinois). Also- finding decent rental homes with fenced in backyards is not easy. Our house search finally came down to 2 very different homes. One was an older, slightly outdated, larger house in an…

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas- For Your Galentine and the Men in Your Life
Ok, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner y’all! I’ve never actually been super into Valentine’s Day as a “romantic” holiday, but I do love it. The day doesn’t have to be all about celebrating only if you have a romantic relationship, I’ve always thought of it more as a time to celebrate all the relationships in your life. Don’t get me wrong; I wouldn’t say no to a fancy, candlelit dinner and some romance. But I think Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to make sure we let all of our most important people know how special they are to us! I’m talking parents, brothers, sisters, friends, children, and…
