8 Random Things I Loved Last Month
Happy September, friends! I can’t believe how quickly August came and went. At the end of July I shared my newest top 7 product obsessions. And it was super fun, so I’m thinking about making it a monthly thing! At then end of each month, I’m going to share with you all some things I’m loving from fashion and beauty, to books and podcasts, movies, and foods! So without further chitchat, here are 8 random things I loved last month.
Chatbooks
I’ve used a few online photo album making websites, including Chatbooks, in the past. However, after my phone crashed and I lost a year worth of unbacked-up photos (will NEVER let that happen again), I have a fresh, rediscovered love and value for good ole fashioned photo albums! And honestly, of all the apps/websites I’ve used, Chatbooks is truly my favorite. It’s super user friendly and easy to navigate and figure out. And I love the beautiful, simplistic album designs they offer. For our anniversary this month, I had albums made for all of the major trips Brian and I have taken together during our relationship. And they turned out so well!! And they actually got printed, shipped, and arrived super quickly.
Olani Lava Stone Necklace Diffuser
I saw these necklaces advertised on Instagram and immediately fell in love with their classic, simplistic beauty! These necklaces are made from Hawaiian lava stone which in itself is known for it calming and grounding properties. Additionally, the stones are porous allowing them to absorb, and then slowly release (diffuse) essential oils. They offer the lava stone in 5 different beautiful settings and each design is given a Hawaiian name with a meaning. I have the Kakau necklace, a Hawaiian word for focus. I love wearing my necklace with lavender or stress away.
Billie Floof Dry Shampoo, Dark Hair
As most of you know, I have been on a journey to ditch highly toxic, unsafe products in my home and switch to cleaner, safer alternatives. It honestly took me such a long time to find just the right dry shampoo for me that I wasn’t even going to try to find a better alternative. But then my local Target was out-of-stock of the shade I needed for weeks and weeks and weeks, and my back-up supply was dwindling. So I checked my EWG (Environmental Working Group) app to see what some other options might be. At the top of their list, with an EWG verification, was the Billie Floof dry shampoo. I’ve been using the Billie razor for a while now and loving it, so I decided to give the dry shampoo a try. And it’s great! I love it and it really does work well!
Tula so pumpkin exfoliating sugar scrub
Tula has been releasing new products all year, and I am here for it! There have been some amazing new product launches. Most recently they released a limited edition pumpkin sugar scrub in collaboration with gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson East. 1) I LOVE all things pumpkin. 2) I’m obsessed with the Olympics, especially gymnastics, so I’m a big Shawn Johnson fan. So obviously I needed to try out this new product. And man is it awesome! I was hooked after the first use and immediately ordered more to have in reserve before it all sells out. It has THE BEST scent and gives your skin a beautiful, gentle exfoliation and leaves your face feeling so fresh and soft. Highly recommend getting some before it’s gone!
Spindrift Raspberry Lime Sparking Water
If you like flavored, sparkling water, you need to try Spindrift!! After I had already tried and loved the product, I looked up the company and became even more obsessed!! Spindrift was actually started by a guy outside of Boston who started combining REAL FRUIT with sparkling water, found the best combos, started selling to restaurants in his area, became popular and now sells in chain stores nation wide! There are so many things I love about that back-story. I literally drink this every day when I’m home. I use it to make a little afternoon refresher drink with my daily dose of Ningxia (vitamin, mineral, antioxidant, energy supplement from Young Living) and it’s absolutely delicious! Seriously, go to your Target or Publix, pick a flavor that peaks your interest and try it. You won’t be disappointed.
Yasso Chocolate Dipped bars
Yasso was actually started by two nutrition conscious, former Division 1 college athletes, and lifelong friends. How. Neat! I don’t know about you, but I’m a big sweets person. My sweet tooth can be out of control sometimes. And I definitely think dessert should be an every night thing. Enter the yummiest, portion and calorie-controlled option! My sister (a registered dietitian) actually turned me onto Yasso a few years ago. Their 100 calorie frozen Greek yogurt bars have been my go-to “ice cream” option for a while now. But recently they changed they game with CHOCOLATE DIPPED bars!! The chocolate coating does add a couple of calories, but they are seriously sooooo yummy! The flavors are vanilla, mint chocolate, sea salt caramel, and peanut butter and they truly are so good we can’t pick a favorite and I have to buy all 4 flavors every time.
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
I read this book in 3 days. It’s not a short book. It truly had me hooked from the very beginning; I couldn’t put it down. It tells the story of the lives of two young women, sisters, in German occupied France during World War II. It follows the sister’s lives, struggles, triumphs and defeats, during one of the darkest and most difficult times in human history. The book handles the tragic, heart wrenching subject matter in a delicate, beautiful manner. And really tells the human story of living, loving, and not giving up when the future seemed so bleak. I think this book is a MUST READ for EVERYONE. I really can’t say enough good things about it. Yes, it’s sad and unfathomable at times, and I cried through the last 2-3 chapters, but it’s such a beautiful story.
Radio Rental Podcast
If you like True Crime and The Office….this podcast is for you! It’s real life people, telling their real life stories of weird, scary, spooky things that have happened to them. And Dwight, well Terry Carnation who is basically Dwight Schute, and is played by Rainn Wilson, hosts the podcast. It’s only been out for a year and is comprised of 14 fairly short episodes to date. Brian and I listened to ALL of them on our way to and from Knoxville last weekend. The personal stories include encounters with serial killers, terrorists, weirdoes, and the downright strange. Very interesting and entertaining for a road trip.
What’s something new you’ve been loving lately??
XOXO, stay well friends
