4th of July: But Make it Stylish and Affordable

As a military kid, I have always had a deep love for all things patriotic. Especially the 4th of July. Other than Christmas, the 4th of July has always been my mom’s favorite holiday. As soon as Easter is over, the house was always decked out in patriotic red, white, and blue decor until mom changed things out for autumn and Thanksgiving decorations.

After the social isolation during the spring and with ongoing social unrest and concerns about Covid-19, I’m taking every opportunity to celebrate and be with family. This year we’re actually going to the beach for the 4th of July!! And I’m going all in (Brian might say overboard) on all things red, white, and blue.

I’m so pumped for this upcoming trip! The Florida gulf coast is only about 4 hours from us here so it should be an easy drive. By some lucky happenstance, we already have beach chairs that are a combination of red, white, and blue and I received a blue beach mat as one of my June Young Living freebies. So my sisters and I are really color coordinating everything for the weekend!

Our beach equipment was luckily already the correct colors, but I got to do a little shopping for beach towels, swim suits, and cute outfits that would fit the weekend theme. And I found some GREAT deals and everything has actually shipped really quickly! I’m waiting on one more package, then I’m ready to hit the beach!

Whether you are planning to casually beach, pool, or backyard this 4th of July or dress up a bit more, I’ve got some awesome affordable options for you!

Beach/Poolside Attire

If you are looking for classic American Flag swim trunks, look no farther than Target or Walmart. They both have some great options under $25! If you’re willing to spend a little more for some different red, white, and blue printed trunk options, check out Tipsy Elves.

I think finding the right patriotic themed suit is a little more challenging for us women. Personally, I think Aerie is really rocking it with women’s swim wear right now. I’m going to be mixing and matching with the above white top and blue bottom to coordinate with my sisters who are wearing solid red. Sticking with just one color (red, white, or blue) is always a good, classy options. If you want to be bold, with a true flag inspired suit, I love this one from Amazon, which has great reviews. Amazon also has the best patriotic swim coverups!

Stay Casual or Dress Up

If you haven’t caught on already, my favorite places to shop for just about anything right now are Target, Aerie, and Amazon. I have a slight obsession with these smocked shorts. They also come in a blue floral pattern, so just add a white tank to the red or blue and your comfy cute outfit is set! The red linen shorts ($17) and blue tie-dye t-shirt would make the best ensemble! Both are from Target of course. And I have this tee in two other colors and it’s truly the perfect basic tee (only $8!).

The super cute blue star dress is an Old Navy find, and they have tons of other cute 4th of July appropriate dresses as well. The rest of the above cuteness can be found on Amazon! But before you go off to shop, I also need to leave you with a plug for one of my fav boutiques, aka show some small business love!! The Pink Lily has the CUTEST patriotic graphic tees and sweatshirts.

Now make your life easy and head over to the men’s 4th of July tab at Target to find everything you need for your guy. Dress him up a little more by grabbing a pair of chino shorts while you’re there. Support an online small business by checking out the patriot graphic tees at Tipsy Elves. If you’re going for a more comfy vibe, snag these shorts from Old Navy.

Now Accessorize

No holiday celebration is complete without some sweet accessories. You obviously need the appropriate koozies, for both regular cans and the slim cans. Make sure you protect those eyes with patriotic eye wear. Before you head to the pool or beach, make sure you grab these red, white and blue towels. And, every girl knows, the right hair accessory can really bring an outfit together!

What are your 4th of July plans??

XOXO, stay well friends and be safe if you are traveling for the holiday.
